Another week has almost finished, it's now the weekend and it's super hot here which means it's time to hide indoors and play games.
For me, it's been a real mix of things recently. With the announcement that EVERSPACE 2 is coming to Linux, I've decided to brush up on my piloting skills in the original. I'm still amazed at how fun EVERSPACE actually is, especially the Action Freeze feature where you can just entirely stop the game to take a picture. Beautiful too, it can result in some awesome shots like this:
Apart from that, Jupiter Hell is another fantastic Early Access game now out on Linux. Already loving everything about it, from the awesome atmosphere to the incredible turn-based action. Although when I'm not looking for something so intense, diving into Dicey Dungeons is always high up on my list.
What have you been playing recently and what are you clicking on this weekend? Let us know your thoughts and recommendations in the comments.
It was the first game I ever backed in Early Access, and I figured I'd pick it up again and try to actually finish it.

Not exactly Linux-related, but I've also been trying to learn the ins and outs of z88dk with the vague intention of developing something on the Sinclair Spectrum. Maybe. Someday. Don't hold your breath. My C skills were never particularly good, and they're now as rusty as a 1970s car, but it's still easier than Z80 assembler. :)
So far it's seems to work very well. I discovered last night if it's going to hang it'll be a hard lock on the system, but it only send to happen on start up.
Now my goal is if I can get in some play time before work tomorrow.
GTA 5 online via steam play;
Ark survival evolved sadly via steam play
tried to play Vermintide 2 via steam play, but not good enough

Finished Borderlands 2 two months back figured it was time to finish the next game in the series.
Thus far it feels like a big DLC for the second game, and I'm not really enjoying it nearly as much. Overall it just feels really cheap story world wise like a mid-budget DLC rather then it's own game.
Iv been clicking on mostly everything this week.
Dragon's Dogma: Dark Arisen runs well through Proton and is another game I've got quite into.
Finally, Knightin'+ 'cos it's good fun with old school pixel action :-)
Started playing The Way which is a mix between the old Impossible Mission (oh, kids memories!) and Another World. Sometimes frustrating but not irritating.
As usual I tested (and will tomorrow) some games under Proton: to my surprise Middle-Heart: Shadow of Mordor finally works under Proton 4.11-2! And it works very well, better than the native port using Mesa!
Though as it turns out that was not a problem at all, I was able to just download, launch, and play through the entire campaign in a single sitting without a single gameplay affecting issue - on the defaulted settings of very high/ultra.
(I had an issue where aircraft would very rarely become invisible during their docking animation, but only when I had my camera in an extreme angle)
A great game, and a really well made entry to the Homeworld series. Though it was noticeable that they hadn't had a very big budget behind it, with a slightly rushed feeling to some of the campaign missions, and a lack of depth in the unit and research trees.
Quoting: robvvI've been playing Underworld Ascendant quite a lot over the last few days. Very well optimised and it runs well on my system (AMD FX-9370, 16Gb RAM, GTX 970).

Would you recommend Underworld??? Follow this game a while now. But many people say to much bugs.

Quoting: NezchanSecrets of Rætikon, a Metroidvania-ish game where you play a bird attempting to activate an ancient machine. Good controls, stunning visuals, and satisfying puzzles, even if fighting to get needed puzzle objects away from magpies gets frustrating at times.Sadly, the ending of this game is terrible. I think they ran out of money and it really shows. Too bad as the general concept was cool.

Quite good point and click adventure!
... and it's native for Linux. :)
Quoting: ziabiceI played a lot of Sundered this week and I only have to do the last boss battle. I have mixed feeling about this game, is a bit repetitive.Interesting. I loved that game and played through a couple times to get the different endings and achievements. I can see the style not being everyone's taste, though.
"For Ringalowda!"
