Sometimes you just want to be an evil wizard, build a dungeon and look after some imps. KeeperRL lets you do just that and it just had a big new update with much better modding support.
With the introduction of Steam Workshop support, mods and retired dungeons can now be shared to it to allow others to easily download and try them out. As for the rest of the modding support lots more can now be tweaked. Items, building info, Z-level width, creature names and so on can be changed with mods now and creatures can also drop custom items.
New gameplay features were also added like a contagious plague, enemy aggression can now be tweaked to your liking, water can become bloodied after a battle, creatures can no longer cast spells on enemies they can't see, items can have randomized modifiers to make them more unique and interesting, a new spying effect to allow infiltrating enemy territory and a few other little bits and pieces. There's even two entirely new biomes with snow and desert, both having new creatures and possibly buildings to find.
All these changes make it sound like KeeperRL is continuing to get a lot more interesting to play!
There's also a bunch of UI improvements that went into this release too. There's a nicer mod menu, more handy links in the main menu, item tooltips now have the effect description, uploaded dungeons now show a screenshot of an area chosen by the dungeon author and more. Of course there's also plenty of bug fixes that went into Alpha 29 to make is a smoother experience too.
