A rolling-ball physics platformer where you move like slime, jump like a bouncy ball and swing using a sticky tongue like a weird version of Spider Man. Crumble has a lot of fun ideas going for it and a big demo update is out now with co-op.
Covered a few times here now, as I've absolutely loved following the progress on this one. The developer posts a lot of upcoming bits for it on Twitter, and it looks like they have some pretty amusing plans for Crumble. Including a portal that turns you into a shadow that completely warps the gameplay.
It was already pretty varied making you swing using a tongue at high-speed, avoid cannons on a survival level as the area crumbles around you and controlling an aeroplane by rolling all over it. Now it's getting closer to a full game with improved keyboard controls, better performance and the local multiplayer party mode to swing around together with up to three others (2-4 players).
In the survival mode pictured below, one player fires a cannon which breaks apart the world as the other player(s) attempt to jump away, swing across to other platforms and not fall. Whoever lasts the longest wins and you take it in turns to fire the cannon. Brilliant idea.
The Racing mode picture below is as you expect a 3D physics platformer to be—ridiculous. About to fall? Lagging behind? Stick your tongue out and grab another player and watch as you spin out of control, hilarious. It's the kind of laugh out loud fun you just need sometimes, as you scream and shout at each other as you fall off a wobbly platform the previous player left unstable.
Definitely one to stick on your watch list. I can easily see this local multiplayer mode being a huge amount of fun, especially with Steam Remote Play Together being able to play with anyone. Valve really opened up a lot of games there.
You can head on over to Steam to try the latest demo.
