Feral Interactive, the porting studio behind a lot of great games available on Linux are asking for some feedback again on where they should go next.

In the past, they've teased how they feed port requests into "THE REQUESTINATOR". Looks like my number three from when they asked in November 2018 turned out okay with Shadow of the Tomb Raider. As always though, we want additional ports to buy and more varied titles to play through.

On Twitter today they posted this:

What game would you like to be ported to macOS, Linux or mobile platforms in 2020, and why?

Is there a game in dire need of porting? Let us know why it’d be perfect on your favourite platform and your answer could feature in our next newsletter: https://feralinteractive.com/xx/register/

Feral have already ported a ton of games to Linux including Alien Isolation, Life Is Strange, Before the Storm, Life is Strange 2, Mad Max, Total War: THREE KINGDOMS (and many other Total War titles), XCOM and XCOM 2 plus more. Their work is great, especially now they're all-in with Vulkan the performance is great too so more would be thoroughly welcome.

How about you mention your top three most wanted Linux ports in the comments? I'll start:

  1. MONSTER HUNTER: WORLD
  2. DRAGON BALL Z: KAKAROT
  3. Borderlands 3

Right now, those three would be seriously good to have properly supported on Linux. As for the why? Well, 1+3 are already massively popular games and with Borderlands 3 coming to Steam this year, it would be a nice surprise. As for Dragon Ball, I'm a huge fan of it and having such a game ported and supported on Linux would be a huge boon.

I just keep thinking how long would Feral take to Port such a huge application as Cyberpunk is. 2-3 years I think. Well, maybe not too long since CP2077 already has a Vulkan implementation because it will be available on Stadia. May it come

I don't really know that much about games on other platforms, but I'd be into another big, exploration heavy open world adventure in the vein of Mad Max or Shadow of Tomb Raider. Or Dirt Rally 2. Or a really good RPG.

Don't agree, especially when it's popular games. Steam Play can break with any game update, as is now the case with Monster Hunter going from seemingly great to unplayable in a single update ;)

Support is what we need. Proton is great for older titles not being updated constantly.

WAAAT, Monster Hunter broken? I just bought a new PC for it, I HAVE to play it with my friends:'(

So, my list is:
- MONSTER HUNTER WORLD
- CYBERPUNK 2077 (I'm like Jon Snow with this game but it seems cool)
- For Honor (A friend is bugging me to play it with him, but the anticheat seems to be on the way)
- Alice Madness Returns (old game, sadly now it's Origin only, I was slow to not buy it when it was still on steam, but it seems to work with origin+proton so....)
- Catherine the ps4 version (the "Classic", aka the pc port, is broken, I have to try the PS3 emulator then)
- Soul Calibur VI (seems to work on Proton but hey, it's a cool big game!)

What, only three games allowed in the list? Six is better, prepare for trouble, and make it double!

Anything as long as they'll release it DRM-free.

I don't think CDPR need development help with CP2077. They are already releasing it for Stadia, so if they'll decide to make a proper Linux release, they could do it themselves.

If someone like Feral could off-load Linux support costs, it could be useful still, but then they should be ready to release it on GOG. And until now they didn't want to work with it.

Three games is hard but rules are rules :

1> Elden ring / From software what else ?
2> Cyberpunk 2077 / After playing Witcher 3, you know it will be good.
3> Doom eternal / Because Dooooom! And with a gamepad it sucks...

Edit : I would like to see console exclusive coming to linux like judgement, Zelda and many other titles but a man can dream...

1. Subnautica (both games)
2. Any of the more recent Final Fantasy games
3. Um...Skyrim, I guess.

That and CD Projekt Red release their games DRM free and feral don't do no-DRM i think.

If I understand correctly, the way Feral usually work, they do the porting, and arrange to get profits only from Linux downloads.

In case of CP2077, there won't be much porting to do after Stadia work. And whether CDPR will agree to share profits in exchange for on-going support, remains to be seen. And as I said, even if they do, Feral should be ready to deal with Linux version sold on GOG.
