Here's a nice feel-good story for today. If you work for the NHS in the UK, you're now able to get a free game thanks to the Games for Carers initiative. The initiative is being run by Ukie (UK Interactive Entertainment), with support from Keymailer after the original idea from journalist Chris Scullion.

Over 85,000 games across various genres will be given away, from tons of different developers and publishers aimed at supporting those who are working to help fight the Coronavirus. It launched yesterday, and the amount of games included is expected to keep growing.

Some of the developers involved include THQ Nordic, tinyBuild Games, SEGA, Creative Assembly, Devolver Digital, Double Fine Productions, Koch Media, Introversion Software, Team 17 and plenty more.

The wider UK games industry has been trying to get a message of support out, with different publishers and developers doing their own thing with this going a step further to unite the effort as Dr Jo Twist, CEO of Ukie said: "The UK games industry has been proud to play its part in conveying these vital public health messages during this national emergency. Now our community has united again to say thank you to the truly extraordinary people who make up the NHS frontline team. Games companies of all sizes and players everywhere recognise their exceptional dedication and hope this initiative goes some way to help them to understand how respected and valued they are".

If you do work for the NHS, head over here to apply.

I thought the NHS was supposed to protect the patients.

Nice initiative but if you work for the NHS you unfortunately have no time. They are operating 4on-4off and on those 4off days they are exhausted due to working 14+ hour days

can partners of NHS staff benefit?

I take that as a joke.

Either that or the Mrs and daughter are leaving early and disappearing somewhere else for a day

I was referring to your 4 on 4 off and not having the time statement!

The thing is, They've always had that stress due in part to cuts ect! It's in the spotlight due to the pandamic. Like I said, both the Mrs and daughter work for the NHS which indecently aren't on a 4 on 4 off scenario.

I'm not trying lightening the situation.

Protect the NHS from privatization by keeping it a national service for all otherwise there would be no healthcare to protect the everyone during pandemics

Yes there would, and it'd be cheaper and more efficient.
"Protect the NHS" from its obvious and gigantic flaws.
