Slime Rancher, the absolutely adorable game about adventuring and catching little (and sometimes big) slimes has a fresh update and a tease about future content.

For the completionist adventurer, Monomi Park have added in two new Treasure Pods to find and unlock on your travels. These special pods add a fun element to the exploration, requiring you to spend some monies earned to open them and get some extra goodies.

The two new pods are:

  • Party Fashion - With these super rad Party Glasses, your slimes will be the stars of the party! Just note that the Party Hat + Glasses combo is a unique fashion for our VIPG (Very Important Party Gordo).
  • Scuba Playset - This new Playset includes a Scuba Fashion Pod and Octo Buddy Toy! Slimes that are wearing the Scuba Fashion love to play with their best pool-pal, Octo.

I have to admit, my absolute joy at seeing a bunch of slimes in ridiculous party glasses:

Viktor's Workshop also now has a recycling system to help you keep things tidy. Any unwanted items or slimes can be fired into it for them to be recycled or released back into the Far, Far Range.

On top of that there's also a new UI mode, that allows you to hide the majority of it to get a little more immersed in the simple beauty of Slime Rancher. While exploring, this might be my new favourite small addition to be able to just take everything in without boxes across the screen full of info. Makes it even more relaxing.

A few other bits made it in like better gamepad menu scrolling, less of a chance to accidentally delete collections of gold plorts and rare ornaments, Gadget Mode messaging improved to better emphasize the ability to rotate gadgets, a few tweaks for performance and a bunch of bugs were also solved.

Quite a sweet little update overall, showing that Monomi Park care a lot about the user experience of Slime Rancher. By itself it's a good update but they dropped something of a hint in the update notes too about the future. Mentioning that there's "even more Slime Rancher adventures in development" which sounds exciting!

Slime Rancher is wonderful, wholesome and you should play it. Buy it from Humble Store (DRM-free plus Steam key), GOG and Steam.
