The 7DFPS Game Jam returns in December 2020

By -

Ready to see more weird and unique games? The 7DFPS Game Jam returns this December so it's time to get planning.

What is it? 7DFPS is a game development challenge, to make a first person game in seven days. Challenge yourself and first person games by creating a game that takes us to new places in new ways. 7DFPS is one I love to follow as it's ended up giving us a few gems like SUPERHOT, Receiver and a number of others.

7DFPS runs a bit differently to other Game Jams, as the rules are: there's no rules. Yes really. No special theme or anything, it sounds like it doesn't even need to be first-person this time. As they confirmed on Twitter, the theme is to just "make something". The FAQ is amusing on it too:

Q: Can I...?
A: Yes!

Given the tough year we've all had, having a no-rules Game Jam to just make something cool sounds like it could be good fun. I look forward to seeing all the Linux entries. You can join it on itch.io. It will run from December 4 - 13, 2020.

Will you be trying your hand at a little game dev for it? Let us know in the comments.
