Top-down open-source racing? Yorg is a little bit like some of the classic Micro Machines games and while rough around the edges as it's in development it's showing promise as another FOSS game.
With fast arcade racing along with some amusing physics, Yorg is already a lot of fun with multiple tracks, vehicles and different drivers to pick from. You can play against AI, local multiplayer and experimental online multiplayer. There's weapons too, so you can blow everyone up.
The latest release Yorg 0.11.1 expands the gamepad input support, cleans up the UI somewhat and the camera should feel a lot better during races. Plenty of bug fixes went into this release to improve the AI, reduce CPU usage, improve the audio and multiplayer and so on.
Hopefully more players and developers will pick it up, we can always use more good free and open source games.
Find it on the official site and itch.io.

How does the Linux download work? it doesn't seem to be a .tar.gz file or an autoextract installer of some sort.
Hi Julius,
Looks like it's an AppImage. So you would need to install the AppImage service in Manjaro:
sudo pacman -S appimagelauncher
and launch it.
Enjoy!

Hmm, that doesn't seem to be the case either. In fact it does seem to be some sort of installation script after all.

I guess it depends where you are downloading from...from their website's downloads, it appears to be an appimage file. I haven't checked itch and indiedb...

I'm having the same problem: how do i download this thing!? Cliking "recent builds" and http://www.ya2tech.it/downloads/Yocto-0.210309-x86_64.AppImage.zsync brings but garbled mess to my screen:

Why cant the creators make a simple click and install package??Installing through the itch app was only a couple of clicks. Seems to work just fine.
If you don't want to use the itch app, download the yorg-0.11.1-linux_amd64 installer package from https://ya2.itch.io/yorg and run it. You'll need to set the executable bit for the file, but itch tells you how on the download page.
EDIT: Well, it works fine until I try to enable full screen or antialiasing, at which point it crashes to desktop.

Sure enough, I just tried it again and it works. Same version of the game and nothing changed in my system either. Maybe restarting the itch app did it? Strange...EDIT: Well, it works fine until I try to enable full screen or antialiasing, at which point it crashes to desktop.I had that yesterday, filed a bug report and today it suddenly works <_<
The game can be downloaded from itch.io, itch.io's client, GameJolt and IndieDB. The downloaded file is an executable (you should chmod +x it); specifically it is a MojoSetup installer.
ya2tech.it is just my personal VPS (perhaps you have found it from Yorg since I host some Yorg's services on it), and you found that mess since I didn't suppose that anyone was looking at it. Actually, I was just experimenting with my new webserver and AppImage builds, but this wasn't intended to be public (now), sorry.
As for the crash, actually I can't replicate it, sorry.
Thank you for the article! Thank you for downloading it!

That's the actual app image file instead of clicking on it right click and save file. Then mark it executable. I used thunar and right click on file and check allow it to run as an executable. Uh, never mind that page is gone now.

I downloaded it here. https://www.indiedb.com/games/yorg/downloads/yorg-0111-linux-64
Then opened a terminal and changed the permission.
chmod +x yorg-0.11.1-linux_amd64.bin
Then ran the file installed it to the directory I choose.
This actually works much better than the App file I tried yesterday the graphics were messed up on the appimage.
Looks great this has a lot of potential!
Logitech F710 gamepad only works in Xinput mode, not in Dinput mode. Can't rebind keys.
Switching to Fullscreen disables my secondary monitor, and switching back to windowed mode crashes the game.
Siduction (Debian sid based), KDE Plasma 5.20.5, AMD RX6900XT Mesa git 21.1
The game needs separate volume controls for music and sound etc. The default volume is very loud and the menu sound effect 'beep' sounds distorted. Engine noise is way too loud.
Would be nice to have some camera controls in-game, I really don't like the rigidness of the current top view camera. Let the car slide a bit before following. Maybe a chase cam mode or add a few view angles.
From playing just one track over three laps I spotted quite a few bugs, like when resetting your car.
Sometimes the car spawns over holes in the track so you immediately auto-reset again, or spawns under/on top of other cars, or the wheels sinks into the track so you can't move and have to reset again and again. You also reset for seemingly no reason by just touching certain railings or when sliding over them.
Cheers!
