In the mood to party? Jackbox Games have what you need with a big Weekend Party Sale going on Steam and you can get a free game for a few days too.

First up it's Free Game Friday! Head over to the Steam page for Quiplash and grab yourself a free game as it's 100% off. What is it? A quick-fire game about answering questions with ridiculous answers for 3-8 players.

Another bit of good news, and something many gamers have been asking for, is that more of their games are going international! Drawful 2 will be getting a free upgrade on May 6 which will include localizations for French, Italian, German and Castilian Spanish.

"When lockdowns and quarantining began at the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, we decided to give away Drawful 2 across many major digital platforms. To date, over 10 million copies have been downloaded," said Mike Bilder, CEO of Jackbox Games, "By including localized content in the next free update, Jackbox Games hopes even more people will enjoy Drawful 2 around the world."

On top of the new translations Drawful 2 will also see these new features:

  • Closed captioning: Players will be able to turn on subtitles for the host audio.
  • Content moderation: Moderators can join the game by going to mod.jackbox.tv and entering the room code. By doing this, they will be able to see all prompts and drawings before they appear on the screen and remove any from appearing in the game. This is especially useful for streamers/content creators!
  • Text filtering: By turning on this setting, the game will automatically filter out offensive content or hate speech. There are three settings available for filtering: Off, Moderate, and Strict.

There's also big sale going on over on Steam. Save big on their individual games and their party packs, all of which have full Linux support so they're worth taking a look at!

Also if you missed it: Jackbox Games recently got their engine ported to Vulkan and SDL2.

While this is great, I'm just going to drop a casual reminder that their games do not work offline.
Do with this information as you will.

That makes sense, considering that you play via the website on your phone.

Well, the could maybe add an option to host your own session server. I doubt many would actually use it now, but some might and it would make players independent of their service.
FWIW, I'm really thankful for those games. Meeting for online Jackbox Parties with my friends on a regular basis and those days are real highlights in these sad times. And It's great that they'll add translations for drawful. My family is totally interested, but the language gap makes it impossible to play it with them. :)
