Hanging Gardens Interactive and Application Systems Heidelberg have announced their lush looking puzzle adventure Sonority will release on May 25. That includes Native Linux support too.

They claim it's quite "innovative", and it was one of the winners in the "Best Prototype" at the German Computer Game Awards 2020. With a hand-designed world and areas filled with some pretty beautiful landscapes, it definitely pulls in your attention. From their email they mentioned how "players will discover an unusual puzzle mechanic in which obstacles must be moved by arranging sequences of sounds" and that the "mechanics slowly become more complex and surprise the player again and again with new variations on the theme".

Game Features:

  • Interesting new puzzle mechanic based on melodies. (Simple note sequences develop into small melodies and then into complex pieces of music.)
  • A touching story about Esther and an old, oddball raccoon and his singing stone friends.
  • A lovingly designed, cohesive 3D game world with varied locations.
  • Atmospheric, extensive soundtrack with English and German versions of original songs.
  • Play with keyboard or controller.

The publisher sent along a review key, so hopefully I'll be taking a look.

You can wishlist / follow on GOG and Steam.

It looks very good, but this bit worries me:
QuoteInteresting new puzzle mechanic based on melodies.

So far, I've had to resort to walkthroughs for every game that had note/melody based puzzles.

Agreed; I'm not musically inclined at all, so I always struggle on those.
