Seems that the survival game Valheim had quite an unfortunate bug for Linux players, which has now been solved.

Players discovered a little while ago, that the ability to move saves between Cloud and Local might end up deleting characters or worlds. Ouch. At least it's fixed now. This update also brings the Jack-o-turnip seasonal decoration item since it's Halloween season once again.

Here's the patch notes:

  • Fixed a Linux-specific bug that deleted characters/worlds when moving them back and forth between Local and Cloud
  • Prevent joining servers from the main menu if incompatible server version right away (instead of loading and then kicking you back out)
  • More PlayFab tweaks
  • Enabled Jack-o-turnip seasonal decoration item

Valheim is available to buy on Humble Store or Steam.

I'm glad I was never bitten by the deletion bug, it would be heartbreaking to lose so much time spent building and progressing. Not that it would have bitten me as I backup daily

p.s. I'm coming up to 600 hours in Valheim and still loving it.
