Call of the Wild: The Angler from developer Expansive Worlds launched on Steam on August 31, and sadly it was broken but now they've fixed it. This is the same team that made the rather good theHunter: Call of the Wild, and while it hasn't been reviewing as well it's still good to see it getting updated.
On Steam Deck, it would just crash during launch. In Hotfix version 1.1.2, they said "It aims to fix the issues Steam Deck users were encountering when trying to launch the game. We knew how important it was for Deck players and we appreciate the patience you've shown while we worked on a solution.".
Additionally they seem to plan further improvements as they also said "While this is not full Steam Deck support yet, we're currently looking into making The Angler fully compatible with Valve's handheld in the future."
You can buy it on Humble Store and Steam.

Somebody should make an ice fishing game... now that would be something exciting. I always loved going ice fishing, but never caught any fish, because by the time we got the hole cut big enough to put the boat in, it was time to go home! :-)
An ice fishing VR game, that's the ticket. Put on VR headgear and sit around the hole and wait for fish! Co-op multiplayer addon with in-game microtransactions. They could even have a mobile version with that cardboard cutout VR lol
Quoting: BlackBloodRumNice! I'm thinking.. you go out fishing overnight at a lake, and while you freeze your butt off waiting to catch real fish, you can play your steam deck catching virtual fish in this game!
"Yo Dawg, I heard you like fishing..."

So a guy decides to go ice fishing. He goes out on the ice, gets out his hatchet, starts chopping a hole in the ice. But before he's gotten very far, a voice booms out
"There's no fish down there!"
He looks around but doesn't see anyone. He shrugs, moves to another spot nearby, starts chopping. But he's barely gotten started when the voice booms out again
"There's no fish down there, either!"
He looks around wildly, can't figure what's going on. There's nobody around. So, well, he moves over again, but before he's even swung his hatchet the voice comes again
"There's no fish down there, either!"
He's getting pretty frustrated, so he yells, "Who are you?!"

Check out Ice Lakes. It supports VR and online multiplayer. No Co-op or microtransactions as far as I can tell, sorry.

I was being snide, but I should have known that someone will have done this lol

It was very little fishing and just an excuse to get away from their wives and drink beer.
Should be a fairly easy computer game to make.
