KDE have put up a new fundraising platform, with an aim to make it easier for people to donate with a tongue-in-cheek anti-black-friday event they're calling Blue Friday.

Developer Nate Graham mentioned in a blog post that their previous way of raising funds was split between two platforms, one for single donations and a totally different one for reoccurring donations. They've now put up a new one that allows you to specify if your donation is one time, monthly or annually.

The donations will go towards all their work in things like the Plasma desktop environment, that Valve ships for the desktop mode on the Steam Deck, Plasma Mobile for phones and tablets, all the various KDE apps like the Dolphin file manage or KDE Connect and much more.

Hopefully it will be a success, as KDE have been going from strength to strength lately and they're currently hiring for a Software Platform Engineer to work on many different parts of the KDE system as a whole.

The fundraiser has a current goal of €15,000.
