Steam Replay is Valve's new highlight page going over a bunch of fun stats about your gaming year, something made popular by the likes of Spotify Wrapped and similar events from numerous other places.

It's actually quite a fun bit of info and you can set your own page public to send it to others too. I'm not going to because mine is a little embarrassing in some ways. It gives you a look over how many new games you played, what platforms your played on, the games you put the most time into, the biggest genres you played, how much time you used keyboard + mouse or gamepad, your top VR games, your longest gaming streak and so on. So you can find out fun details like 9% of your total playtime being in Deep Rock Galactic.

Steam Replay takes data between January 1st and December 14th 2022, and does not include any offline mode play, which explains why some of mine are a lot lower than I expected. I put myself in offline mode a lot, otherwise I end up getting spammed with messages a bit too much about new games.

The page certainly needs some work to view on the desktop though, it's clearly a mobile-first design and looks a little bit too massive on desktop.

I'm actually surprised my plain "Linux" (desktop) time was still so big, then again it probably shouldn't surprise me since I test a lot of games for GamingOnLinux directly across my desktop and Steam Deck. Plus I use Remote Play too so there's that.

You even get a nice collage of all the games you played too. No surprise to see Vampire Survivors in my top list there, that game was very difficult to put down after initially getting into it.

Feel free to share yours in the comments.

Valve also sent out a press email about it and made another silly trailer:

Cool! And interesting what they all track! Devices, operating systems, genres... everything! Well, I have to admit in this case I don't mind. If it would be Microsoft or Google, it would be different

I'm confused why it says "screenshot shared: –" but it also correctly has the PlateUp! screenshot I shared yesterday.

Slay the Spire and One Deck Dungeon would be a bit higher if it was counting offline playtime since I often play those on my Deck offline.
Xpander Dec 26, 2022
Doesn't seem to show platforms/devices for me. I guess because i only play on Linux?

I've only played on Linux this year (and for the previous several), don't have VR or a Deck, and my recap doesn't have a "You played on more than one device" section.
peta77 Dec 26, 2022
For me it only lists Linux desktop & Steam Deck. VR is missing. Or was it too little compared to other stuff? Didn't play it in offline mode, so should've been tracked...

But I'm not sure I like all that tracking stuff....

Here, you can take a look at mine. Nothing remarkable.

Sadly, it pulled too early, because I've been playing Mass Effect 2 on Legendary Edition pretty much non-stop since last week. It would've ranked higher.

I wish Cyberpunk 2077 wasn't so prominent. I didn't hate the game, but I didn't love it either. Yet, I put enough hours into it that it gets a spotlight. Ah well.

Oh, one last addendum to mine; don't expect RetroArch to go up again. I ran into problems with the RetroArch Flatpak back in Late Spring, and used the Steam version for a while; hence the playtime. Nowadays, I run the Flatpak again. The Steam version still lacks the melonDS core, which is the only core I use for DS games.

Fallout: New Vegas: You picked up this game for the first time and were immediately hooked.

Yep. Largest amount of hours in a single game and it pretty much dethroned Fallout 2 as my favorite Fallout. Still got the DLC to look forward to!

I play a lot of games outside of Steam so I keep track and do my own end of the year report. So far I have wasted about 17 days or 4.6% of the year playing games...

Here's mine: https://store.steampowered.com/replay/76561197974862196/2022

Steam Deck only got 2% of my gameplay, but I played 9 games over 27 sessions? Considering I mostly just use my Steam Deck to watch videos streamed from my desktop or play rpcs3, I'm surprised the session and game count is so high.

Just as I thought I would be spared these kinds of end of year summaries, Steam introduces one.
Oh well.
Have a look, if you want.
edit: Noticed a bug too, it says I comoleted all Century achievement, uh, I definitely didn't.

Great, now I can see what I wasted my life on.

Mostly whacking rat-men (Warhammer: Vermintide 2)

Short summary:Started with Spiritfarer, continued with Control, moved onto Valheim, switched to Rings of Saturn and finished the year with Stone Story RPG. Lot of other games on the side as well. Valheim and Rings of Saturn I should revisit at some point as both of them have been updated since I last played them.

Demos might have caused spike in new games, though there were few even despite of that. Total 18 that I have played have been released this year.

Steam is more of a chat program for me these days instead of a gaming platform..... So there is not much to share........
Most played games on Steam in 2022 were Doom (1993) and Doom (2016)
I switched to Linux in June 2022 so the playtime on steam is almost a 50/50 split between Linux and Windows......
These days when I game its usually on standalone RetroArch, PCSX2, ScummVM or Dolphin-Emu......

What are the WRC games like on Steam???
Pengling Dec 27, 2022
This is clearly my only statistic that matters.

shibuya Dec 27, 2022
Here is mine. I'd probably have more game time in Linux except I discovered Reshade this year which is windows only and have been using it for a fair few games.

Is there an equivalent to it in Linux?

Alternative for reshade on linux, but not an equivalent:

I did not think that much of my playtime got hogged by Urtuk: the Desolation.

What are the WRC games like on Steam???

What you mean exactly with that?
If you like more simulator side of things then WRC9 and 10 are great. The latest generations doesnt work with proton yet afaik.
If you like the game to be a little bit to the arcade side then WRC 8

I personally like 10 the most. Playing with Logitech G920 wheel.
rea987 Dec 27, 2022
Well, I don't have "played on more than one device" section probably because I exclusively play on Linux. B-)
