It's not going to win any awards on style but some of you may want to know that the classic free and open source RPG FreedroidRPG is now on Steam. A name some older readers might not have seen for a while…
This is a game I remember reading about and following along back in the early days, way before Steam came to Linux and when Wine couldn't exactly run a whole lot. It might not be up to modern standards in many ways but fun to see it continue on. Linux has obviously come a very long way as a gaming platform with so many games available to play either Native or through Proton.

I have to admit a penguin slapping robots is quite amusing.

This RPG variant shows all its age (a Tux look-alike hero, nerd puns galore, dated graphics borrowed from the 80s, cheesy gameplay, some story gems, etc.), but it can be entertaining and even challenging. Think of a "reverse retrogaming" experiment done with some passion and a lot of perseverance.
Wouldn't break any sale record, but it's nice to have available to a wider audience than some obscure package buried in the "extras" of linux distros.
I like seeing when an old (F)OSS game is made available or---at the very least---put in front of Steam's millions of eyes, worldwide. Pre-Steam, my Linux games of choice---nobody's asking, I know---was Blob Wars: Metal Blob Solid, a solid little game with tremendous charm and wit. Well, and ABUSE of course. ;)

But I have to admit the archaic animation does remind me of Zomboid... which then made me realize the similarity of titles. Huh.
