Oh wow, I loved my old SEGA Dreamcast before it sadly ended up at a tech graveyard. For fans of emulation, the Flycast emulator has a new release out. I must gives this a try, maybe good for Steam Deck in bed…
The developer mentions it was "derived" from another project called Reicast, which is no longer updated. Supporting the Sega Dreamcast, Naomi, Naomi 2 and Atomiswave. Here's the highlights of Flycast 2.1:
- Full framebuffer emulation (Densha de Go 2, homebrew)
- Linux AppImage builds
- Automatic crash reporting with Sentry
- Broadcast arcade digital outputs (lights, force feedback) over the network
- Android keyboard support
- Various GDB fixes and improvements, CPU graphs, Profiler by @BigEvilCorporation in #832
- Texture Upscaling for iOS by @vkedwardli in #805
- And many, many, many bug fixes and performance improvements
See more about it on GitHub.
Nice to see another open source project coming along well! Have you been using Flycast? Let me know what you think in the comments and what your favourite games are to play with it.

My absolute favourite console! Still have mine and even play online once in a while on it and play with KallistiOS on it as well.
Great to see the dedication by these guys. I love using flycast on the Steam Deck, was partly one of the things I looked forward to when I got mine.

Big respect for Flycast. It powers the Soul Reaver HD remaster, the best way to play one of my all-time favourites.

I did not grow up with consoles but I've come to love the Dreamcast games from emulation. If I had to pick a console back in the day, this would have been it.
Currently, I'm using ReDream. Can anyone that use Flycast and ReDream let me know what their thoughts on the 2 are?
