Want to give your Steam Deck a bit more colour and customization? The new coloured translucent backplates from JSAUX are available to order.

They're now available in: Brown, Purple, Blue, Green and Red at $29.99 with a Crystal (Clear) version coming sometime later. They're also offering a discount to people who already picked up the original Brown version. All of them come with a set of buttons you can pick from, anti-static finger gloves, screws, a screwdriver and a stick to help you get the backplate off.

This and a whole lot more, including a first-look at the backplate they sent me, is in my below news round-up video:

The backplate does look great but the metal pad on it does get very warm. If you want it to properly reduce temperatures other than the real small amount it does by itself, it really would need something additional on top of it to keep pulling the heat away. Still, seems really nice overall. Would be interesting if they eventually did a version without the metal plate on the back and a frontplate too.

I've reached out to their PR team to see if I will be getting the other colours to take a look at too.

Looks like I'm deciding whether or not to buy one or multiple for my guest LAN Decks.

I completed the 1TB Sabrent mod the other day.

I was slightly bummed out to see that they only sell a back-plate -- I would be happy to do a full mod and buy a front-plate too.

I asked my Deck peeps and they like the clear, purple and green the most so far.

Well, of course!

The metal plate getting "very warm" may be an understatement depending on your definition of "warm". It's not hot enough to cook flesh but it's somewhere between uncomfortable and painful. Since I use a Killswitch case it's not a huge issue, and I appreciate the paddles, but I've definitely thought about putting the stock one back on solely so I don't burn myself when I'm not using the case..

For me the heat was a little unconfortable and I took the thermal pad from the backplate. Now it's just warm.

I have a Killswitch case as well, which is pretty much what's keeping from picking up one of those glorious purple backplates.
I worry that:
1. I won't be able to see the backplate anyway.
2. The metal plate might heat the plastic on the Killswitch... unfavourably.

What's your experience with this combination, TheHighPriestess?
