Wait, what year is it? Someone pinch me, I must be dreaming. Valve announced a proper big update is planned and on the way for Team Fortress 2. Yes really.

It's so big they're claiming it's going to be a "full-on update-sized update". They skipped over announcing it on Twitter and instead decided to actually post an announcement on the TF2 Steam Page copied below:

Steam Workshop Creators, can we have your attention please. The following message is so urgent, so time-sensitive, we made the executive decision to skip TikTok and Twitter entirely and break the glass on the most bleeding-edge communication technology available.

Welcome to the future. Welcome… to a "blog-post".

"Wow!" you're probably thinking. "I forgot how hard reading is!" Yeah, it's scary how fast you lose that. Don't worry, we'll be brief:

The last few Team Fortress summer events have only been item updates. But this year, we're planning on shipping a full-on update-sized update — with items, maps, taunts, unusual effects, war paints and who knows what else?! Which means we need Steam Workshop content! YOUR Steam Workshop content!

So get to work! (Or back to work, if you were already working but got distracted when the entire internet simultaneously found out about this state-of-the-art blog-post.) Make sure to get your submissions into the Steam Workshop by May 1st, so they can be considered for this as-yet-unnamed, un-themed, but still very exciting summer-situated (but not summer-themed) (unless you wanted to develop summer-themed stuff) update.

Originally released in 2007, it remains as one of the most played games on Steam (over 100,000 on it right now), although it has seen various massive bot attack problems over the last few years that Valve attempted to address across a number of smaller updates. It's nice to see they're getting back on track here, after previously releasing a big scripting update to make it more of a modders playground.

Yay, a blog post! Ah, and it's announcing something. That's good too.

As usual, Valve games just refuse to die. Maybe I should pick Team Fortress again to see what's new.

Is Team Fortress 2 still a war themed hat simulator like it use to be????

Had good fun here over time. Haven't played since many builds ago. I'm curious too how well it runs on my current rig. Hmm might hop back in to see if the bots have taken back over again.

No mention of anti cheat and bot. Update padding with community content.

I'm not getting my hopes up.

Only way how Valve game can die, is being reincarnated. Just like Half-life reincarnated to black mesa :-D
