Ghost Ship Publishing and Funday Games recently announced a Deep Rock Galactic spin-off named Deep Rock Galactic: Survivor and I need it right now.

Designed very much like the smash hit Vampire Survivors, it lets you explore the world of Deep Rock as a single player survivor-like auto-shooter. They sure are a lot of these games now, however this is building upon a well-established name and Deep Rock Galactic is one of my all-time favourite co-op games, and as a big fan of these horde shooters, I'm keen to give it a run on Linux Desktop and Steam Deck.

No doubt it will work great with Proton at release. The Early Access release will have these features ready:

  • 4 playable characters
  • +30 weapons
  • +10 enemy types
  • 1-3 bosses
  • 3-5 biomes
  • Multiple mission types
  • A deep progression system of perks, artifacts and upgrades

From what they said, it will remain in Early Access potentially for up to a year. During this time they plan to add in more of basically everything. Gimme.

Check it out on Steam

Single player looter shooter? To each his own, but not my jam. One of the many reasons I love Deep Rock is because I can jump into a co-op game with random players and pretty dependably have a good time without griefers.

That genre is getting more saturated than a Marvel movie on post-effect crack.
