Mask of the Rose set to release on June 8th

By -

Mask of the Rose, the incredibly stylish upcoming dating sim visual novel from Sunless Skies creator Failbetter Games is set to now release on June 8th.

A bit of a delay, which they explained was due to the continued expansion on how players interact with it. They're working on making the narrative "far more responsive and dynamic than we initially anticipated". Thanks to playtesting, they're making it a whole lot more interesting but that will take just a bit more time. While they've already implemented the features they want, given how dynamic it now is they want more time to fix up bugs.

They also have a new trailer:

Features:

  • (Re)invent yourself: who were you before the Fall? Who will you be now?
  • Create outfits from a selection of clothing and unusual accessories to unlock different story options.
  • Fall in love with a cast of diverse Londoners, each with their own secrets.
  • Matchmake among your friends, or seek love for yourself (by any definition you like).
  • Write love stories in a delightful minigame, and use them to impress the new Masters.
  • Pick up odd jobs to earn money and gather resources. How are you at rat catching?
  • Solve the first murder since the Fall, with the assistance of the victim.

The game will be on GOG too!
As stated by the devs on the Steam forum:
Quoting: failbetterfuzzAbsolutely! We'll be launching the full game on GOG and Steam across WIndows, Linux and Mac.
