One I missed recently that you should check out: Black Reliquary is a free total conversion mod for the original Darkest Dungeon, and it's available now with a whole lot of content to play through. While it's completely free, it will need you to own the full game of course but it also needs the The Shieldbreaker DLC, and the Crimson Court DLC since it pulls features from them.

More about it: "Black Reliquary is a complete overhaul mod for Darkest Dungeon that harnesses the original systems whilst building upon, refining, or transforming nearly every single aspect of them. This mod features an entire new story and campaign in an exotic new desert locale, with fully voiced narration and an original soundtrack. Venture into The Valley, reach the Black Reliquary, and reveal its ancient secrets."

I wonder if they fixed the issue with difficulty. In original game it was really frustrating then fun to play endgame. I don't mind difficult games, but this was mostly grinding new members for exp than anything else.

I read it is more difficult :/

From what i read, it seems to be a very high and somewhat unfair difficult game, with huge amount of resists and/or dodges, and many deadly effects such as poison or bleed. Also, too many complexification for the sake of complexification ? A mod only for the hardcore DD fanatics ? A miss for everyone just looking for a fun balanced tactical turn based experience ?

Darkest Dungeon is a game for people who can't tell the difference between challenging and frustrating.

And yes, the RNG is completely broken. I once had a run where I lost all party members expect one.
I kept on going and she somehow survived almost ten encounters before finally biting the dust (the healing ability helped a little bit). And the refusal of the devs to make an actual easy mode doesn't make things any better.

It is truly a shame, because the look and feel of the game are awesome.

I hate the RNG in this game.

You guys' comments don't make me want to dip my toes into this game despite it becoming interesting again (haven't purchased yet). Why are the review stats so amazing if it's frustrating? Is it the MMO players that like endgame grinding for specific loot drops? Because that's not me.

The reason is simple, because most of the reviews are written after few hours in the game, at which time it's awesome experience and real fun. The frustration starts later.

Good to know. I read that as: worth playing for a while after a sale, but not gonna love it long time.
