One of the most popular games on Steam (and one of the most played Steam Deck games too), Stardew Valley is coming back for another update in version 1.6.
The developer, Eric Barone who goes by Concerned Ape, mentioned on Twitter: "There is going to be a Stardew 1.6 update. It's mostly changes for modders (which will make it easier & more powerful to mod). But there is also new game content, albeit much less than 1.5. I'm taking a break from Haunted Chocolatier to work on this at the moment. Then back to HC".
Looking back on it, this was actually already announced back in February where it was mentioned at the bottom of the 7 year anniversary post on Steam. Seems the scope has expanded a bit though to include new content, as only modding changes were mentioned previously.
The modding scene around Stardew Valley remains as popular as ever, with all kinds of mods big and small like the extensive Stardew Valley Expanded. Plenty of the modding scene is thanks to SMAPI, an open source modding API for Stardew Valley.
You can buy a copy from GOG, Humble Store and Steam. It has Native Linux support and it's Steam Deck Verified.
Great to see it being supported for so long.

2 hours of standing ovation would be well deserved and maybe not enough!

Stardew valley is the game that almost made me fail school. I was skipping so much classes.

I wanted to ask if I should get this for my little ones. I note a no from you, then!
Eh, just limit your kids' screen times. Try out the program called timekpr-next. Once you understand the UI quirkiness, the features are very flexible. You can slice and dice as complex or simple of a schedule as you want.Stardew valley is the game that almost made me fail school. I was skipping so much classes.

My kids play SV a LOT (relative to other games). They have been playing the same farm for what's gotta be a couple years now. They recently spent $2M in game money to buy a teleporting device. They don't share money, so it was a huge savings for one player. They've never used any cheats to my knowledge. There is so much content in the game. SV and Minecraft are simply the crown jewels in their young gaming lives.
