Not only will Vampire Survivors get another content upgrade and a small patch later this month but an animated TV show is currently in the works.

Clearly the developers are doing well, and not really a huge surprise, since Vampire Survivors is one of the biggest indie hits in the last year. With an Overwhelmingly Positive rating on Steam from over 185,000. Anyone who enjoys it I'm sure can attest to have utterly captivating it can be to play.

Sharing the news on Steam about the animated show, the developers said they've pulled in a company called Story Kitchen, whose team includes Derek Kolstad (John Wick) and Dmitri M. Johnson (Sonic films). So they have help in the industry but studio founder Luca Galante mentioned:

As we all know, the most important thing in Vampire Survivors has always been the story, so we are very excited for this and we hope you are too! It’s still early days for the show, but I can already say that we will be involved so that we can ensure it doesn’t have any vampires (probably) and they will only cast the finest garlic. While we will be involved, this won't affect game development in any way.

This doesn't actually mean it will happen though, as Deadline reported they're searching for a writer and they still need some network to actually pick it up and buy into it. So it may never happen but given the popularity of the game, it may prove popular.

As for the game, a small patch is coming this month and then a bigger v1.5 content patch is planned to come later with new stages and relics but no dates set. They did say the 1.5 patch will have something different, as they keep experimenting with things like previous updates.

While all of this is going on, they're still working through their game engine upgrade too, which you can try in Beta.

Now there's a tongue jammed pretty firmly into a cheek.

If it does happen, I'll give it a watch, especially if it's as tongue-in-cheek as the official statement about the TV-show project (as well as the many references in-game, which are all of a similar nature)!

Still hoping for merch, as well - big fan of the game, and would love to be able to show it some extra support.

I mean why not? Surprised, but curious what may happen with this.
