One final free game is here for you during the GOG Summer Sale 2023! You can now get Beholder 2 from Warm Lamp Games and Alawar Premium. The giveaway for Beholder 2 on GOG lasts until Monday July 3rd, 1 PM UTC.

It had some pretty good reviews too. Rated 4.5/5 on GOG and Very Positive on Steam, so another nice one to add to your likely already quite large collection of games. How to grab it? Head to the store page, add it to your cart and checkout for free when logged in. Trailer for it below:

Don't forget they also had the Yakuza series land recently too:

If you need help managing Windows games from GOG you can try Heroic Games Launcher and Lutris, they really help to simplify things and keep everything tidy. Either of these can really take away the hassle of running GOG games on Linux (and Steam Deck too). I'm especially a big fan of how slick Heroic is.

The GOG Summer Sale 2023 ends July 3rd, 10 PM UTC.

I've got the first part free as ad for the second part.

It seems that the games are (very) good, but personally, they make me feel so uncomfortable that I can't play them. I've played a bit of the first one and watched some videos on youtube of 1 and 2.

Looks really interesting from the trailer.

cool, it's native too.

Well, it runs for me out of the box on my pure 64 bit system (that's where I want these Gog installer games, something to do) as there are binaries for both. I don't see any problems other than the mouse breaking out of the game if I move it to screen edges (I don't have to, it's not used for navigation)

I have trouble with side scrollers, but the mode of navigation doesn't matter for this game, it's a point and click story game and traversal simply involves pressing the A key. I'm going to admit that I'm getting pulled in and want to discover the story.

Sloppy scripting though...

$ ./start.sh
Running Beholder 2
chmod: cannot access 'Beholder2.x86_644': No such file or directory
... no need for more output

It doesn't prevent it from running (just that it can't chmod it if it needs to), but line 22 in start.sh

# Actions
    run_game() {

      echo "Running ${GAME_NAME}"
      cd "${CURRENT_DIR}/game"
      if [ "$(uname -m)" == "x86_64" ]
      then
        chmod +x "Beholder2.x86_644"
        ./"Beholder2.x86_64"

      else
        chmod +x "Beholder2.x86"
        ./"Beholder2.x86"

     fi

    }

Simply change "Beholder2.x86_644" to "Beholder2.x86_64".

I cannot let something like that stand lol

Well, it looks creepy and kind of interesting, but . . . I don't see a Beholder.
