Quest Master is an upcoming dungeon-designing sandbox adventure from Skydevilpalm, Julian Creutz and Apogee Entertainment.

This one will allow you to be creative, as it's as much about building dungeons as exploring them. Taking inspiration from retro 16-bit classic dungeon crawlers but giving it a modern edge. You'll be able to face various dungeons alone or with up to 3 friends in local co-op.

With the built in level creator you'll be able to make anything from simple dungeons to fully overworld connected quests. Making it as easy or difficult as you like, you'll be able to create "lava-filled caverns, mountainous overworlds, grassy forests, desert dunes, and more" and even create your own little narrative with NPCs and all sorts.

“Quest Master hands over the controls to the players to make whatever they want,” said Julian Creutz, Lead Developer of Quest Master. “The possibilities are endless, and we can’t wait to see all kinds of wacky dungeons and full-blown adventures players are able to come up with.”

Sounds like one to watch!

You can follow it on Steam. It will have Native Linux support.

It's nice to see Apogee making (publishing?) games again.

I wonder how you'll be able to share your creations with Steam friends but only play locally.

This looks like a good one to give the kids a chance at level building. Myself, I only enjoy it if the final creation will be used. I enjoy the outcome, but not the process on its own enough.
