Game store GOG has launched the Make Classics Last Forever Sale, a good chance for you to pick up some retro beauties with money left to spare. There's plenty of retro games and some not-so retro but still considered classics - somehow.

As always you can play a whole bunch of them on Linux even if they don't provide a Native build either via the likes of Wine or DOSBox. For older games especially Wine is absolutely great! You can also easily install GOG games thanks to launchers like Heroic and Lutris.

Some of the good deals going include:

See the full sale here.

I'm quite tempted by both Settlers 2 and 3. I have seriously fond memories of playing them in my earlier days of PC gaming. Used to love sinking hours and hours into them both. Back in the days were demos were a normal thing, I spent a long time in the Settlers 2 demo before being able to get the full game.

If you pick up something good, be sure to come along in the comments and let readers know.

The sale runs until July 24th.

Have fond memories of Settlers 2, too. Wouldn't buy them unless I heared they played very well on deck. Can't see myself playing them at my desk ever again.

The GOG page has some reviews that playing with WINE is broken, have you had play this version on Linux? I'm intrigued by this game

And it's digitally available only on GOG, same for Dark Reign 2.

You mean the 12 years old review? I have both games on GOG so I could try though...

In this list, Empire Earth and Pharaoh are masterpiece for me. I played them a lot when I was younger, and replay them for time to time nowadays too.

I will appreciate! The thing that really make me worry is the no-cd patch not working!

I have to pace myself with Julius (Caesar 3) engine because is soo good!!

Doesn't work for me on mint xfce with heroic launcher (tried many different wine/proton versions). Get a division by zero error message when attempting to run it.

I've given up on running it in a wine-alike and installed it on a vm that I prefer to use for similarly obscure old windows titles.
