Mortal Kombat 1 from NetherRealm Studios, QLOC and Warner Bros. Games has now released and it has been rated Steam Deck Verified by Valve.
Nice to see Valve being able to do some early verification for another big game release. Interestingly, 6 days ago it was only rated as Playable. However Valve re-tested it yesterday and decided to bump it up to Verified with the currently unreleased Proton 8.0-4 that's now in testing. Reports on ProtonDB for desktop Linux are also quite favourable on it! So it's nice to see another release doing well for all types of Linux gamers.

If you've picked it up for desktop or Steam Deck, feel free to comment your experiences with it. Not one I'm personally interested in, fighting games like this just aren't my cuppa. Amplified by the ridiculous pricing. It's £59.99 at a minimum and that doesn't even include all the characters, it's actually £84.99 for the Premium Edition if you want more, or there's various DLC (included in Premium) adding up to £67.95 to buy separately. Two of the DLC are just single characters, each at £6.49 — it feels overly greedy.
So far it has gained a Mostly Positive rating from over two thousand user reviews on Steam.
Available to buy from Fanatical, Humble Store and Steam.
Quoting: grigiHold on... MK has a story?
It was all the rage back when I was in high school, didn't even know it was a thing anymore
Stories are basically mandatory in fighting games nowadays. The story mode is basically long cutscene-fight-long cutscene-fight, repeat for some hours. MK does it, DoA does it, it's all the rage. A huge improvement to what was there before as far as I'm concerned. It's all quite entertaining and makes these games interesting for people like me, who have no interest in fighting others.
