Kitfox and Bay 12 Games have revealed that the new Adventure Mode for Dwarf Fortress (Steam) will arrive in April 2024 with a new trailer.
This is the game mode that's more like an RPG. You create a character and roam around the simulated world doing pretty much whatever you want. You can either use the world you made during the Fortress Mode or start an entirely new generated world for it. It's coming with numerous enhancements like new character faces coming with the procedural portrait system, rich conversations with character, a visual and mechanical revamp for combat with updated wrestling mechanics, plus an update to the world map to show off landmarks better.

Work on this mode is happening in parallel to the Fortress Mode, so expect more to come there too.
Dwarf Fortress has Native Linux support and is rated Steam Deck Playable.
Find it on Steam in Early Access.
I'm excited about this news, is what I'm trying to say.
*Literally, in a single tick of combat.
The Premium version of the game has been incredible since the native Linux build dropped. The game runs as good on an old little laptop that I can play in bed, as it does on my high-end gaming rigs!
