Broken Sword - Shadow of the Templars is getting a big fancy remaster in Broken Sword: Reforged, and it's currently crowdfunding on Kickstarter by Revolution Software. It will have full Linux support too, as confirmed by the developer.
Somehow I entirely missed the campaign had actually launched, with only 11 days left to go. Seems plenty of people are excited to replay one of the best point and click adventures around, in full 4K with the Kickstarter campaign noting a £50,000 base goal and it's currently on £404,303.
You can pledge to get a digital code (GOG / Steam), or go for two different special Collector's Edition Boxes that include things like a figurine, a USB-C key, a manuscript, game manual and so on.

Interestingly, they are using AI for the remaster. Here's what they said about their use of AI for it:
What parts of your project will use AI generated content? Please be as specific as possible.
Disclaimer: All training data comes from within Revolution Software. We wanted to use tools that were trained exclusively on our own data, and so we opted to write our own bespoke program in collaboration with The University Of York. Outputs from this tool have received significant intervention by our art team, ensuring that the final product receives the same level of attention to detail as any other artwork befitting the polished standards of a Broken Sword game.
Do you have the consent of owners of the works that were (or will be) used to produce the AI generated portion of your projects? Please explain.
Yes - the training data is comprised of sprites drawn by our animators.
Check it out on the Kickstarter.
You can also follow on Steam.
Why you trying to rewrite their comment? It was just a joke with no intent to polemize, but since you're asking, it's because I sensed a contradiction stemming from the similarity in the outcomes of "for free" and "piracy".

People are waiting for a new Broken Sword not a remake god damn...A new game is in the works as whizse mentions above, but apparently people are waiting for remakes as well if they're willing to back a kickstarter for 400k.
Fair enough. Woke up on the wrong side of the bed this morning, and didn't read your tone. My apologies. Why you trying to rewrite their comment? It was just a joke with no intent to polemize, but since you're asking, it's because I sensed a contradiction stemming from the similarity in the outcomes of "for free" and "piracy".

people love to spend for remake so that show why we don't get new games
If an actual artist is going over the AI upscaled assets and fixing the weird aberations AI tends to produce it could be good.. However if it's a sloppy job they could end up ruining a classic. Let's hope thats not the case.
the fact that I'm willing to buy a remake of a game I already have for free says...that software houses needs to make remakes to fight piracy?
That making genuinely good games, making them available, and supporting them in the long run will usually lead to success. Just look at Stardew Valley for a very recent example. Highest player count ever after the last update. The companies that make games should love and cherish them as much as we do.

Totally agree, that's the same I think everytime SV is upgraded.
