You! Yes you! You can now buy as many of those rude games as you like without fear of prying eyes, as Valve just rolled out some enhanced privacy features to Steam. Noted in a news post on Steam Valve said the latest shopping cart update is now out of Beta, and available to everyone across all platforms.

What's included:

  • Inline gifting: Gift to multiple friends in one go, with streamlined messaging for hassle-free checkout.
  • One cart across all devices: Your cart now follows you seamlessly anywhere you're signed in to Steam (including Deck and mobile), ensuring a unified shopping experience wherever you go.
  • Private purchasing: Maintain your privacy by marking games as private before purchase, giving you control from the start.
  • Private Apps: Mark selected games as private so they are only visible to you, giving you more control over what you share with friends. This lets you keep your Steam Library visible to your friends, so they can see what you are playing and join in, yet also keep a few of those games just to yourself.

Valve said they did make changes since the Beta based on feedback like DLC for private games also being set to private, although it's configurable. You also get a privacy indicator on your friends list when playing a private game so you know it's working.

We all know why Valve added the private game feature don't we? There's a rising amount of sex games on Steam, so it was inevitable really.

I'm very open about whatever I play. I've got nothing to hide or be ashamed of. I'm not a prude. I'm a dom, and I like my women and bottoms fem, my twinks extra twinkie, and my traps extra trappy. XD

I just finished Trap Shrine recently, and I still need to start Trap Legend. Then I'll play the last game Trap Genesis after that. I bought Taimanin Asagi when it released on Steam, but I hope they'll do a full release of Taimanin Yukikaze on Steam too. As I feel that Yukikaze is the best Taimanin. lol

Steam is so horribly inconsistent with its adult content though, and it's so fucking stupid. Like the Nekopara series has the adult patches on Steam for all the games that have them, but not the 4th game. You need to buy it on their site, cause Valve blocked it. Even though the other games had them already. 🙄

I´ve only heard about the sex surge on steam. I´m behind the Great German Firewall (ugh), my sensible senses properly protected against sex. I guess we must continue to proliferate via cell divsion.

But BUTT BUTTTTTT

excuse you but we know when a friend has bought VN or +18 game when you check the friends activity.

i use the beta version since, i liked the idea we can gift multiple time the same game than doing it one by one.

Also they should fix the wishlist and reviews i can't even filter neither see negative reviews

C'mon, that was the only useful of all the social stack. Luckily I can still find dirt on on friends on Gog.

You can set your Game details to private in your profile settings to hide your in-game status. Though all your games, achievements and playtime will also be hidden then.

What's a rude game?
A game that's so bugged it's almost unplayable?
Oh wait, that's called AAA.
Maybe a game that's somewhat... er, politically incorrect? We can't have that.
FINALLY Now I can buy Hunie Pop, Shakira whats-it, and College Bachelor Sex Party Deluxe without crippling embarrassment /s

!Unfrozen Caveman Lawyer

I can finally have the college experience without the crippling debt or leaving the comfort of my sofa. /s

Just saying, there are also LGBTQ+ oriented games that you might not want your friends to see. I'm surprised it took them 20 years to add such a simple privacy feature.
Now if only I could add games to my wishlist too without it immediately becoming front page of the New York Times...

Yeah, there's a great many reasons people may not want others to know everything they're buying. Just a good feature to have overall.
This is usefull also if you want to show a curated library, hidding silly games and shovelware.
I read rude games and now all I can think of is Ska
