There's a new Nintendo Switch emulator named suyu, which has been forked off from the original yuzu before Nintendo shut it down. A brave move, let's see if it pays off.

While yuzu had a Patreon campaign, and was pulling in somewhat big numbers, suyu is non-profit and does not accept donations of any kind. So that may help keep it away from Nintendo lawyers. That, and not having a lead developer jokingly post in a Discord about user piracy would help too. The suyu website is a bit barebones with no documentation, so you're very much on your own with this one for now.

The first release is out now with the changes in suyu listed below:

  • Full rebrand.
  • ICNS Icon generation.
  • Error handling.
  • Qlaunch initial integration(buggy/requires further testing; requires V17.0.0 firmware or newer).
  • Gitlab ci for automated builds.
  • Require all keys to be user provided, along with firmware.
  • Improved Addons Manager.
  • Various crash fixes.
  • Initial work for MacOS support.
  • Fix for video playback AMD devices.
  • Enabled more features on AMD proprietary drivers.
  • Multiplayer API re-implemented.
  • Removed all telemetry.
  • New UI options/improvements.
  • QOL changes.

Do you think Nintendo will attempt to shut this down too? Considering they haven't (yet) gone after Ryujinx it may not be all that likely. Will have to wait and see.

I suspect we might see "SoSuMii" pop up when they inevitably go after Dolphin again.

I build one, and it works. But now we also need someone to continue with citra like this. There are no other 3ds emulators at the level of citra (for now).

If Apple don't sue since they own 'Sosumi,' ironically for same reasons

Some active fork for Citra ?

The owners of Sosumi suing infringing users of the name Sosumi . . . I'd have a hard time keeping a straight face at that trial.
There are a couple of interesting lines in those release notes. For instance,
Removed all telemetry.
Pronounced as sue-you

PUTAIN MAIS OUI !
Pardon my french.

I have citra's source code if anyone wants it...

Not necessary, latest Yuzu and Citra sources/builds are available on Internet Archives, same for others open source projects like re3 or revc.

Nintendo is already going after forks: https://torrentfreak.com/nintendo-hits-circumvention-tool-linkers-with-dmca-trafficking-violation-240314/

In the wake of its one-week lawsuit targeting the Yuzu Switch emulator, Nintendo is back to clean up the house. The company has just shut down around 30 GitHub repos offering circumvention tools with attempts to evade liability given short shrift. One Nintendo takedown notice makes it clear that, even when people link to a third-party site that hosts tools available via different links, it still amounts to trafficking in circumvention devices under the DMCA.
I previously thought knowingly linking to circumvention tools wasn't illegal in the US, but it's actually unclear because there's a precedent for both cases.

Nintendo gonna have fun playing whac-a-mole with its legal team about these emulators. lol

That moment the realisation kicks in after thinking about the name for 5 minutes straight 😅
Well played suyu devs, well played

It's like with the Nintendo DS emulator, DeSmuME. People always mistakenly read it like "Des-moom", but it's clearly meant to be "DS Emu Me".

Also looking at the merge commits... it seems a bit amature...
