Arctic Eggs is a thoroughly unique and terribly odd sounding game about cooking up some eggs, to eventually win your freedom while you're stuck in Antarctica. It has Native Linux support made with Godot Engine.

There's certainly no shortage when it comes to unique gaming experiences available on PC, and indie developers keep coming up with the strangest possible things they can imagine. If you like odd stuff, this is definitely as quirky as it gets. With the game dev describing it simply as: "A Sci-Fi Cooking game where you take up the role of a Poultry Peddler stuck in Antarctica and longing for a way out. Cook your illegal eggs for those who look hungry."

I decided to pick this one up and it's as peculiar as you can imagine. They win plenty of points for originality here. You walk around slowly, talking to hungry people and get cooking. However, that's easier said than done. The frying pan is a real challenge, I don't want to tell you how many eggs I've sent flying across the world due to the tricky physics system partly because it's embarrassing and it's so many I lost count in the first 5 minutes.

You move an egg around the pan which generates the heat to cook it, then you have to flip it over to cook both sides. This is where the fun begins, because you absolutely will launch them everywhere, because you have to flick your wrist with the mouse to flip items. To help with this you use the scroll-wheel to adjust the pan movement sensitivity and that's pretty much it. Now you have to cook up for a whole bunch of people. I've no doubt plenty of players will easily pick it up, but not me, I'm apparently the worst egg fryer ever.

They have some odd requests too. Eggs and cigarettes together? Well, okay, you're the boss. It's a challenge because you have to keep different items on the pan, while cooking both sides. Something falls out? Start again. As aggravating as it is, I couldn't help myself to play more.

I have absolutely no idea what's going on in the world, everyone is super weird here. Someone said something about flamingos being banned and now they no longer exist? Some real dystopian stuff right here. And then I had to fry up another egg, this time with what I assume are sardines in a tin, and then the tin pops open and you have to cook each of them on both sides while not dropping anything?!

What the heck. Play it.

Where do you think all those eggs are coming from? The chickens? Those are just for show.

It's not quite my cup of tea, but I do so love these kinds of weird indie games in general.
