With a demo available now and a release window revealed for sometime this Summer, Gourdlets looks like a really sweet and chilled game to try out with Linux support. It's another game built with Godot too!

So what actually is it? An easygoing sandbox game about building towns for "cute vegetable folks". There's no objective here, you just build up a town and see what all the little veggie people get up to. It's all about "just good vibes" the developer said. There's a huge amount of customization on offer from outside to inside buildings, to arrange furniture exactly how you want. The Gourdlets will then make themselves at home and go fishing, read, go camping, farming and whatever else.

They're not quite ready to reveal the full release date yet, but it's getting close now. Thanks to the demo being up for the Cozy & Family Friendly Steam event, along with the upcoming Steam Next Fest, you can now dive in too and the new demo has a lot of fresh content included. The developer mentioned they will probably expand the demo again for Next Fest.

It has controller support too, so perhaps another sweet one to take on the go on Steam Deck.

Check out the new demo on Steam. It has Native Linux support.

Are you mocking me? :)
Imagine a world so red in tooth and claw that the very vegetables prey on the fish . . .
Wow. This made me think of one of LEGO's earliest games (which I haven't thought of in probably decades at this point), Lego Loco. Which was similar in being a sort of open-ended sandbox where you built towns and various (LEGO) creatures showed up and just kinda moved around and chilled out. Although I think the trains were supposed to be focus.

Hey man, don't judge until you've tried it, they never fight back, they never argue and if you choose to eat them they're super tasty.

No. Absolutely not. Some of my favorite childhood TV shows had talking vegetables.
