Valve have issued the first update to the SteamOS 3.6 Preview series for Steam Deck, throwing in a couple of needed fixes.

Initially rolling out as SteamOS 3.6.1, it was quickly pulled. But now Valve released SteamOS 3.6.2. Here's the fixes:

  • Fixed an issue where external controller input could be doubled if CEC control was enabled.
  • Fixed an issue where scroll wheel Steam Input bindings weren't functional.

There is one known issue at this time noted:

  • Frequent session switches can result in the sound driver crashing, needing a system reboot.

Linux and sound having issues? Never heard that before…

Also don't forget to read up on the improvements to the SteamOS update system which sound great!

The problem with improving a bad update system is, you have to use the old update system to update to the new update system . . .

Watch out! This update killed Desktop mode for me. If you use that, I suggest waiting. Reverting to Beta worked fine for me. Someone else had the same issue in the discussion pages on Steam. Preview is Preview.

Any word on if printing(CUPS) support is coming in steamOS 3.6? I'm completely baffled by the lack of it on a machine with a fairly fully featured desktop mode...
