Things are heating up again in the hardware space, with AMD now formally revealing the new Zen 5 Ryzen Processors.
For desktop PCs this will come with the AMD Ryzen 9000 series, along with two new chipsets for socket AM5 that will be AMD X870E and X870 with support for PCIe 5.0, DDR5, USB4, and WIFI7. The new desktop models they revealed are below:

From what AMD said the new processors with Zen 5 provide "an impressive average 16% better IPC performance compared to the prior generation of Ryzen". They're also putting down a firm claim that the top-end AMD Ryzen 9 9950X will be the fastest consumer desktop CPU in the world.
The new desktop processors are due in July, 2024.
When it comes to ultrathin laptops they also announced new models. AMD say these feature a "dedicated AI engine built on new AMD XDNA 2 architecture" and they also come with the new AMD RDNA 3.5 graphics architecture which include:

AMD say the new graphics will provide "console-class gaming on the go" and that the "Radeon 890M graphics has the fastest integrated graphics in its class".

Not announced, I wonder if X3D versions will arrive later, to stave off people (ie; like the Gamers Nexus and LTT crews) from figuring out that the better offerings for gaming are cheaper and a few months away… again.

Honestly, that mobile naming convention... It's terrible.

I started using AI for some aspects of software development (no code generation) and found it to be helpful in many (but not all) cases.

Yeah, but they only talked about the name and nothing else?!?7040/8040 it's first AMD CPU what contains NPU block XDNA in 7040 and XDNA+ in 8040, and "new", by rumors it's called 9040", AMD Ryzen AI 300 just have updated XDNA2 block, to make it compatible with Microsoft Copilot+PC requirements 40+TOPS

The previous naming convention would end up calling these ones 8850/9850. It's a continuation of those models, yes.
It looks like a great CPU, just, I hate the name.

2025 will be my time to build a new pc, so I suppose I'll be using a chip from this release cycle? Not sure. I'm more waiting on details on the radeon 8xxx gpus.

I've only watched one video talking about these parts but it seems a similar performance IPC boost to previous generations. I'm more interested in the 3D parts whenever they get announced tbh. But tbh I'm quite happy with my 5800X3D cpu for now.
I wish AMD could make such good progress with their GPU's as they do their CPU's.

It doesn't matter how powerfull the integrated GPU is when the memory bandwidth is so poor..
Two channels of memory is just very little for that job because the bottleneck will kill your FPS...
FOUR channels of memory would be minimum ideal for a a CPU with an integrated GPU.
