Squad from Offworld is a tactical first-person shooter that has run on Linux for a while now with Proton, but some Linux distributions had issues with Easy Anti-Cheat (EAC).

As of the latest update to Squad, version 8.0 from June 10, many people are now reporting that Offworld actually finally updated their version of EAC. Linux distributions like Arch had problems with it, due to an issue with later Glibc versions. Thankfully, that's no longer a problem!

I've had a few emails on this, and ProtonDB reports are showing the same, so now you should be good to go playing Squad on various Linux distributions!

Nice to see a developer actually solve some Linux problems.

Squad is rated Steam Deck Playable and works on Linux with Proton 9.

You can buy it from Fanatical where it's currently 10% off (no end date noted on the sale). Otherwise there's Humble Store and Steam.

Good game, needs lots of prep work to play it though (going through a lengthy tutorial and reading a long manual)
Just for those who think its supported by actual dev, we have seen devs changing mind and removing compatibility before.
I personally wont consider title, till it's 50% or less in price. If I risk - it gotta be good value.

Anti-cheat has to be intentionally turned on for us for it to work. Squad has worked for a long time, it’s Glibc that broke it and other titles.
