Taking Star Fox and putting the survivor-like spin on it with lots of upgrades and repeat runs, Whisker Squadron: Survivor has levelled up with a new campaign mode that's really worth a go.

With the new campaign mode, they said they've redesigned the overall experience of the game, giving you a choice of randomly generated paths. Each campaign will include a variety of environments, and increasingly difficult combat encounters culminating in a boss fight at the end of each of the 3 acts.

This includes major additions like 2 shops with new characters, the start of a deeper narrative, various new enemies to face, a new wave-based spawning system for enemies, 3 save slots now, a new intro cut-scene and lots of other improvements.

I was gonna say it sounds like this is converging on what the original Whisker Squadron was supposed to be, but it looks like the store page for the other game doesn't mention on-rails sections anymore. I guess they decided to split the concept into completely separate Star Fox-like and Everspace-like games? I think that was a good decision if so. I'm actually a little more interested in this one now that it appears to be developing into more of a full-fledged rail shooter and not just a basic side-project.
