Tall Story Games are working on another quality British point and click adventure game, with Heir of the Dog now on Kickstarter with a demo available. Previously the developer released Lucy Dreaming, which was well received and had Linux support just like Heir of the Dog will.

More about it: "Replete with intricate, witty, and sardonic storytelling, Heir of the Dog, tells the story of bachelor and upper class twit, Cummerbund Bandersnatch. When visiting his uncle's laboratory, Bandersnatch discovers an experimental new formula guaranteeing a ‘good time’ for whoever drinks it. Seduced by the promises listed in his uncle's journal, he drinks the strange elixir and undergoes a monstrous transformation. Life will never be the same again."

They have 28 days to hit £15,000, with £7,557 already pledged at time of writing. So clearly there's quite a bit of interest for the funding to flow in so rapidly. As a Brit myself, I of course was legally obliged to cover this. Kidding of course, but I do love seeing British humour in more games.

Features:

  • Hilarious dialogue and narrative.
  • Atmospheric and nostalgic pixel-art style.
  • Play as man, beast or dog to experience their extra senses and dirty habits.
  • Switch between night and day to solve puzzles and discover new abilities.
  • Choose between classic point & click or character-based controls.

Check out the demo on Steam. Also on GOG but no Linux build there right now.

Funded in less than two hours!

If there's anybody into point and click that hasn't yet played Lucy Dreaming...
1) Shame on you!
2) Go get it!
3) Shame on you still!

The Steam link points to Lucy Dreaming instead of Heir of the Dog. The GOG link gets rejected by uBlock Origin. :)

Steam link is fixed. GOG is an affiliate link so nothing I can do there that's your plugin blocking it.

Tried the demo a while back. This game has a lot of charm. Love the humour! The tick is hilarious. Couldn't figure my way around the puzzles though. I eventually found myself just wandering around not sure what to do next -- even after figuring out that the experience is as different as day and night (pun intended) when you transform your character.
I swear I already own this game from like a few years ago.

Hair of the Dog. It was an hour long free game. Sort of a proof of concept?

Ah, there we go, so I'm not going crazy. Or rather, this particular issue is not a sign of my going crazy . . .
