Another nice win for people who love hitting challenges, as RetroAchievements support has now been added to Dolphin for GameCube. Currently not in the Wii side of the emulator, right now the focus is on getting it working well for GameCube emulation.
Showing the true power of open source, they were able to do this thanks to the PlayStation 2 emulator PCSX2, which also recently had a major new release that came with RetroAchievements support.
In the blog post the Dolphin team mentioned how "One of the things that helped was the PCSX2 implementation of RetroAchievements, which acted as a base for the developers who worked on the Dolphin version of the implementation. As well, their own achievement creation library had to be ported over to work with Dolphin's memory handling.".
Took them a good while to get it going, 18 months to get it all ready and due to how GameCube games work, it sounds like it was a lot of effort to ensure they actually work correctly.
In case you also missed the recent news: Dolphin has moved to a more rapid release cycle.
