Time to choose your fighter? Steam's Fighting Games Fest is now live and will run through July 22nd so you can get some delicious discounts. You'll find a few games that might not perhaps be specifically fighting, as of course Valve like to leave this events just a little bit open to interpretation from developers entering their games into it.

That's a Trojan horse. You buy the game at a discount, but then you have to buy one battle pass after another to be able to play with all the characters.
Them's Fightin' Herds is 70% off and is still a wonderful game that's worth playing even after the studio shutdown. Just don't buy the season pass, buy Texas and Stronghoof individually if you want them.
If you want something a little more out there, Mega Knockdown is 20% off and just got a new updated demo. It's a very fun take on a turn-based fighting game, highly recommend it.
EDIT: Forgot about FOOTSIES (25% off), a minimalist one-button game. Cute little party game to try and hook your non-FGC friends into.
Sadly that's kind of it as far as native titles worth talking about go. This genre is sadly underrepresented on Linux.

All I've been hearing about the game is the battlepass and microtransactions. Thankfully, I only ever play fighting games on game nights with friends, so none of that fomo shit works here, and I get to get it on a discount. If I decide to get the game I'll just do the training mode, or CPU matches at best. Online and fighting games is an oxymoron.

Fighting games are made to be played with other people, and while the FGC moves heaven and earth to make sure we still have offline events to attend, it's important to have a way to practice at home against real opponents.

While I prefer the Neo Geo originals. The updated version of King of Fighters '98 on Steam and PS4 is definitely awesome. Same goes with the updated version of King of Fighters 2002 on Steam and PS4. I also really liked OG 2002 on the Dreamcast as well.
