On top of fixing up various issues with Stardew Valley modding, the new Alpha of the cross-platform and open source Nexus Mods app introduces experimental Cyberpunk 2077 support.

For those just joining us, this is for the new Nexus Mods app that will eventually replace things like Vortex with full Linux support so you can mod on desktop Linux and Steam Deck much easier as I reported on earlier in July and initially back in November last year.

Version 0.5.3 of the app includes all these fixes on top of experimental Cyberpunk 2077 support:

  • Fixed the "SMAPI is disabled"-diagnostic for multiple SMAPI installations (#1674).
  • Fixed Loadout disappearing when applying (#1737).
  • Fixed un-managing a game removing all Loadouts instead of just the ones for the current game (#1738).
  • Fixed sorting in the Mod Library and the "Completed Downloads"-section (#1690).
  • Fixed SVGs not loading and rendering properly in the markdown viewer (#1661).
  • Fixed SVGs throughout the App (#1622, #1681).
  • Fixed not disposing services on close correctly (#1679).
  • Windows: Fixed log file creation failing due to illegal character in path (#1728). Thanks, @ZeeWanderer!
  • Linux: Fixed protocol registration (#1691, #1689, #1683).
  • Linux: Upgraded GameFinder to fix an issue with not being able to find Steam installed as a Flatpak or Snap (#1720).

There's a few other assorted improvements behind the scenes on this too.

I really cannot tell you how excited I am to see this app expand. Modding support on Linux has traditionally been a bit messy, and with a proper cross-platform Nexus Mods app, things will become so much easier.

Just to note: it didn't initially launch for me, I had to remove the configs from the previous version to get this latest to work. The bug was reported but given it's in Alpha, such breakages are to be expected and they don't plan to support migrations yet. So keep that in mind. If you also tried the previous version, you can find the configs in "/.local/share/NexusMods.App".

For Linux / Steam Deck, download the "NexusMods.App.x86_64.AppImage" from the release page.

I would have helped test it, but I just uninstalled Cyberpunk 2077 yesterday. Ironically, it could have used some mods to make it go from a bad game to decent one.

Ok, now I'm interested in testing it out.

It's cool and all. I would check it out and do some testing, but it is just too limited on games atm. I don't even own Cyberpunk... Now if they would give me that, I wouldn't mind.. but yeah.

Wonder if it works with GOG.

I currently use MO2 with Root Builder which is needed for CP77, works well.

I have both Cyberpunk 2077 and Stardew Valley installed through Heroic and it fails to detect them, anyone know how to make the mod manager locate the correct game folder?

We currently dont automatically find games installed via Heroic but we will be implementing something in the future that will allow you to point at where the game files are.

i am curious how it deals with the issue of case-sensitivity when it comes to mods since i remember that being a big pain point with modding some games such as the elderscrolls games.

Awesome jobb hitta. I'll need to check this out when I get the time.

Is achievements still possible when modding Cyberpunk 2077?
