Just before the weekend was over, another development release of the Windows compatibility layer Wine 9.14 was released. This is a large part of what makes Valve's Proton able to do its thing.
What's new from the changelog:
- Mailslots reimplemented using server-side I/O.
- More support for ODBC Windows drivers.
- Still more user32 data structures in shared memory.
- Various bug fixes.
Plus there's fixes for:
- Civilization I
- Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell: Conviction
- I Am Alive
- Unreal Engine 5.2
- Act of War (Direct Action, High Treason)
- Warlords III: Darklords Rising
And a few other miscellaneous expected Windows behaviour fixes as usual.

I couldn't get into modern Civ.
Wonder if I should try 1 again (or maybe 2).

I couldn't get into modern Civ.To be honest, I was thinking "Civilization . . . 1? Was there really a Civ before 2?"

I played Civ 2 to death, then kind of skipped a couple of versions and play a fair amount of V. But there were definitely things about 2 . . . maybe I should try it again. Or maybe 4; I sort of have the impression that 4 is the last one that's pretty much like 2 only upgraded, with 5 as a clear departure.
