If you were hoping to see better ASUS ROG Ally X support on Linux, you're in for a treat here, as there's a big patch that's been sent in.

Developer Luke D. Jones notified us today about their ongoing work, and the latest big patch is available for review. As Jones said in the patch: "This driver adds full support of the ASUS ROG Ally X gamepad and support for the Ally 1 xpad configuration options.".

What the patch includes:

- dinput is translated to XBox controller (Ally-X only)
- default mode has the QAM buttons mapped (Ally-X only)
* left is XBox button
* right is an XBox + A combo for steam QAM
- force feedback is supported (Ally-X only)
- LED brightness control (0-3)
- LED multicolor class support
- Support all configuration

And the configuration options available with it:

- Gamepad mode (game, wasd, mouse)
- Remapping each button, plus macro map (hold macro btn and press other)
- Joystrick and trigger deadzones
- Gamepad vibration intensity
- Leds (using multicolor class)
- Button turbo abilities (per button)
- Joystick repsonse curves
- Joystick anti-deadzones

For more info check out the patch. Hopefully it doesn't need too many adjustments before it can be pulled in so we can see better upstream support on Linux for the ASUS ROG Ally X.

Additionally, Jones let us know they've also been working on a new "armoury" driver for ASUS ROG laptops aimed at making various bios/fw settings easier to use.
