Ready to go on an adventure? Broken Sword - Shadow of the Templars: Reforged from Revolution Software Ltd is ready to release on September 19. A complete remaster of the original, first in the series, it comes complete with Native Linux support.

This is thanks to their previous Kickstarter campaign where the developer raised £618,626 in funds.

From the press release:

“Point and click offers a simple interface from which captivating, challenging gameplay emerges,” says Charles Cecil, founder and CEO of Revolution Software. “But the user experience has remained unchanged since the ‘90s when Broken Sword redefined the genre. Our research suggested that gamers now prefer a more contemporary experience. Broken Sword has a hugely passionate fan base, which runs over three generations. With these graphic and user experience enhancements, we look forward to hearing from fans once the game crosses over, once again, to a fourth generation who love narrative-driven games.”

Fun game, I have a Broken Sword game, not sure which one. I used to play it via Steam Link on my phone whenever I had to wait around my kid's extra curricular activity class to be done.

What a classic. I hope it will give some people a fresh chance to enter the charming world of Broken Sword.

Better remake parts 3 and 4 IMO. But hopefully they will get to that, too.

Good to see Linux there on the poster with rest of the mainstream platforms nowadays

So, it's back to the original, without the "Director's Cut" changes?

I think the original Kickstarter mentioned that those changes might be added at a later date.

It probably comes down to money.
If they sell enough they can expand the process of mixing ai and human work to the other parts of the series.

I like to see a consistent series with high resolution and modern interface across all parts too.

i think they already sold enough, or at least made more money, than they thought.
it is 618.626 £ now btw

Ugh, that looks like an AI upscale of the original intro animation:

Doesn't look great, but maybe that's why it says "BETA FOOTAGE, NOT FINAL QUALITY".

I would still like to see how the reception of my current project is before i make a similar one :)

I like the idea of additional gameplay in theory, but that DC beginning is completely botched. Inert, mostly superfluous, just doesn't fit.

That'd be my condition: it needs to make the game better, instead of just more and usually worse...

I'm happy if it's just the original, but upscaled (well).

You could have an additional toggle to switch between DC and original story line like you can switch on the old resolution and textures by pressing a key.
Would be sad to not have all content in 4k resolution.

And it was called Circle of Blood
I never understood why it needed an edgier title on the wrong side of the big puddle.
