Same, I am gonna play X next but not in a hurry. Also still haven't played 2 and 3.

Quoting: WorMzyPersonally, I don't think there has been a good Final Fantasy since X-2, and that was only fun because it piggybacked on the world created by X. Hard pass.

I agree with this as well (12 being the one for me though), After finally deciding to give 15 a chance; all my hopes for final fantasy as the series i knew in love are gone.

14, although an MMORPG is probably the best Final Fantasy ever, and in the top 10 jrpgs of all time. It's that good. And nowadays, you can play around 95% of the main story content completely alone. Only some bosses require human companions, the rest can be completely done with AI NPCs.

About this game, I tried the demo on steam deck. It... Runs. You can get some stable 30fps most of the time. But the cutscenes... God, the cutscenes are awful, the stuttering is so bad that audio goes desynced from the image every time.

It's broken graphically. In the settings it lists my monitors resolution (3440x1440) but in-game it has black bars on the side and only displays at 16:9. Lots of discussion posts on steam about the same thing.

How on earth did that get past testing?

It doesn't matter. They are not related to each other. Just pick one, that appeals to you if you are into those games.
Personally I played FF XVI on PS5. It's a good game but for me personally behind every most older FF games I played so far.
My preference so far: X > IX > VII > VI > XVI > I > II

Are they not related at all? If I never played any, I don't have to play I, II, III or whatever, and I can just pick up whichever one I happen to own?

My number of played FF games is still ..... 0! And this has denuvNO, so guess the total will remain like that for a while longer.

Same here.
Quoting: hm11I mean, a lot of these big devs that do console exclusivity at some point will have to maximize their profits... Not even surprised if it has DRM; what can we expect?

They make their choice. We make our choice. And for me when there's one of those obnoxious DRM that's designed to make the game not work under all these conditions they can expect me to skip the whole thing and buy and play something else like Factorio.

What's worse than a game that everyone wants to pirate so you need to add DRM?

A game that nobody wants to pirate and then you cannibalize your own sales by putting off your customers with obnoxious DRM.

The days of being beggars are over, there are so many things to play, I bet each of us has massive backlogs.

I totally get the occasional gamer caving to DRM and being like "Well.. okay.. this time..."

I'm just saying for me personally DRM and obnoxious launchers kills the boner like 60-80% of the time.

--

You know it's kind of funny too, I recently heard Ubisoft is going out of business -- can you imagine all those games with the launcher bundled suddenly not working? Businesses and people are going to learn the hard way with the coming going out of business wave that being generally shitty to customers, not respecting your customers and making your business hostile to people of other political views or beliefs, is going to have consequences.

RIP Bed Bath & Beyond in the USA.
RIP Ubisoft.

It's really not hard to fuck up multi-million dollar machines, a few missteps and ** poof ** -- all gone.

Yes. They have some recurring elements. But the storys don't relate to each other and the games are quite different to each other. Only within the numbers they are related. Like X-2 or the different XIII.

Personally I think X is the best of them all and I think it's also the best to recommend. It IMHO still feels modern. While those below X are very nice games as well, but are maybe bit outdated from a gameplay perspective for some people.
