Techland are bringing back the original protagonist in Dying Light: The Beast, with you once again jumping into the shoes of Kyle Crane.
You are Kyle Crane, the man whose selflessness during the initial virus outbreak saved many from a fate worse than death. After more than a decade in captivity, you find yourself in a world that’s changed, and not for the better. Now, you’ll need to use the survival skills that kept you alive all those years ago to save even more innocent lives.
Voice actor Roger Craig Smith is returning for Kyle Crane too! Here's what they said: "Stepping back into Kyle Crane's shoes feels like a reunion with an old friend," Smith said. "And even though he’s gone through a terrible time, there’s still plenty of legendary hero left in him.”

This was actually supposed to be a DLC for Dying Light 2 but Techland said "after two years of work, its size and scope has changed so much that it evolved into a standalone, self-contained experience". If you own the Dying Light 2 Stay Human Ultimate Edition, you'll get it free.
Sounds like it will be quite unique in the series too with you having transformation abilities: "They caged you like an animal. Years of brutal experimentation took its toll, but the zombie DNA and yours are now intertwined so that you are able to unleash a beast-like power. It flows through your veins. No one can take it from you. Use it. And you’ll discover it’s not just a curse.".
No release date yet, we'll find out more later this year. Plenty of time for Valve to ensure Proton is in a good state to have it work at release. And time for me to actually finish Dying Light 2…

There were three endings, actually. You could go big badaboom early with the military codes, makes you wonder how many nukes they had laying around there. Anyway Techland implied the Infected ending is canon since the Nuclear option would likely have destroyed the virus.
Crane was always special, what could go wrong/right by mixing him with the virus, Antizin, the Mothers vapors and possibly some additional effects from interacting with her in the end... becoming a sentient were-zombie Night Hunter volatile seems on brand for this fella.
Also, Techland stated at their new site for The Beast:
we will be offering Dying Light: The Beast at no extra cost to all owners of the Dying Light 2 Stay Human Ultimate Edition. However, we will stop selling Ultimate Edition and Ultimate Upgrade by September 30, 2024. Everyone who owns Ultimate Edition by that time will be eligible to receive Dying Light: The Beast at no extra cost.
But Kyle died at the end of The Following no matter which choice you did, but now he have just been caged for 10 years?
The non-nuke ending had him turned (started turning) into a zombie/volatile and escape Harran, so I guess that's what they built upon.

Well I must have misunderstood what they meant then, I though that you played him as a human. In essence I'm still kinda pissed that they killed him off, was a way more interesting character than e.g Aiden.
So no new game until they keep the promise for the second part of the series. "We look into it" is too vague and they need to have the guts to say they won't do it

I'm not sure what they were thinking, since this is clearly the worst thing that they could have done. Making the player feel that everything that happened before was pointless.
The game's writing is generally confused and rather bad which isn't that surprising when you read about the development process.

Kadir Suleiman is so over the top that he's basically a psychopathic parody of a parody of a psychopath. He kills his minions for fun although it is obvious that he will never be able to get replacements, which is unbelievably stupid even for someone that does not have any empathy.

yes that initial "burn the medicine" confused me as well. Why bother when it is via radio and you not only know that you are going to need it but also can use it as a viable resource to trade inside the quarantine zone.
