Roots of Pacha from Soda Den has a fresh free update out now in version 1.2, and they're not slowing down with more big free updates planned.

More about it: Be a part of a thriving stone age community. Discover "ideas", domesticate crops, befriend animals, and contribute to the growth of your village. Play with friends in co-op or explore the early days of civilization in single-player.

The 1.2 update brings a huge upgrade to how children work in the game with them now going to school, they will hang out together, develop personalities, discover what future professions they wish to do and more. Children's different combinations of parents, personality quirks, and prospective professions help unearth earnable gifts and distinct dialog.

You also get new skin tones and hair colours to establish more unique villager identities. Invent unknown technologies from new Ideas to provide time-saving tools like the olla watering pot. Tame mammoths, spiders, cave lions, wolves, and more as new mount options — play fetch with them and obtain valuable resources like herbs and meat.

With that out of the way, what's next? Soda Den are promising a "massive update underway with two new regions, fishing in canoes/rafts, camping, ball sport, iron, volcano caves, and more" which sounds really exciting. Although it's not due until next year.

Roots of Pacha has Native Linux support and is Steam Deck Verified.

Available to buy from Humble Store and Steam.
