For those interested in the Until Dawn remake from Ballistic Moon and PlayStation Publishing LLC, it's set to arrive on October 4th.

Much like other recent Sony releases on PC though, it will require a PlayStation Network account. The PlayStation Overlay hasn't been mentioned though which is why Ghost of Tsushima's online mode doesn't work for us, so it should run with Valve's Proton on Desktop Linux and potentially Steam Deck if you can pull the graphics down enough. I think it's safe to say all Sony PC releases will require a PSN account going forward.

The developers also shared various details on the PlayStation blog about what's new like overhauled visuals with Unreal Engine 5, new camera controls, a reworked prologue, new collectables, more customizable settings and new settings for accessibility and much more.

I always wanted to try it, so I think I'll have to give this one a go.

You can follow it on Steam.

Quoterequires PSN account
No thank you.
Requiring something like that to play a singleplayer game is an absolute no go.
Same here: on a singleplayer game is a psn account a nogo
Like others this is a hard pass for me. I refuse to bend the knee to PSN, Microsoft accounts, Uplay, EA, or any other account linking. I barely even buy from Steam these days. Plenty of games on GOG and Itch.io that interest me.

Okay… So we have to hope that they get lots of negative feedback and bad sales so that they give up on the idea for future releases instead of abandoning PC as a platform…

I've never managed to get PSN to work, does that mean that once they enforce it we won't be able to play it on the Deck/linux?

I've been hoping this for launchers, extra accounts, DRM, microtransactions, etc. But unfortunately it seems like if they can push it long enough for a generation to have not known better, people will just start defending it because that's just how it normally is.

I've seen it so many times, but I'm still baffled whenever someone militantly defends something scummy done by a really big corporation.

If history is any indicator, it won't. So many games require alternate accounts, and they all sell well. The only thing that might get Sony some backlash is that people in some regions can't create PSN accounts.

Yes, without a PSN account you can't buy, play and download the game, if you life in a region without psn network access. You can't buy all new sony pc ports.

I remember getting this game for free when it was PS Plus back then and never got around to playing it. I guess I'll wait for a sale on this one to buy it for the Steam Deck since I still have an active PSN account that should work with linking.
