Taking a heavy dose of ideas from Advance Wars, Nakazawa Tech / Null Games released the 1.0 version of Athena Crisis.

What to expect from it? Well, if you somehow don't know what Advance Wars is: Athena Crisis is a modern turn-based strategy game that brings a full single-player campaign, ranked and casual online multiplayer modes with up to 7 players at once. Plus there's a map and campaign editor too, so hopefully a nice community of content will build up around it. The main code behind it is also open source too!

Here's what the developer had to say about it: "I became a huge fan of the Advance Wars series after playing the original game as a teenager when it came out. I wanted to bring back memories of the unforgettable feeling of trying to solve complex challenges while enjoying a beautiful pixel art game with great music" said Christoph Nakazawa, founder of Nakazawa Tech. "Athena Crisis is a faster and modern interpretation of the formula with its seamless multiplayer and multi-platform approach. We've been working in the open with the community to make the game as good as possible for our full release – and we are excited to keep improving the game and continue building the world of Athena Crisis in the future."
