Set during the Napoleonic Era and WW1, Holdfast: Nations At War blends together both a third and first-person shooter. And, after a bunch of upgrades, it's now Steam Deck Verified too. This means it will also run great on desktop Linux, thanks to Proton.

The main game is set during the Napoleonic Wars, with a free total-conversion DLC set during WW1 that released two years after.

Writing in a post on Steam at the end of August the developers noted how it became Steam Deck Verified. Here's what they said about it:

As part of our efforts to bring Holdfast into the new age, a portion of the team has been hard at work not only making Holdfast accessible for those who prefer to play with a controller but also gaining the verification and official support for the Steam Deck console.

Development with the Steam Deck was pleasantly straightforward and a lot of the game worked with little to no intervention. With a few touch ups and thanks to the Steam Deck's powerful hardware and brilliant design, it happily runs Holdfast and it's shenanigans with great graphical fidelity and at an impressive frame rate.

Going over previous updates they worked on full controller support, general input improvements, UI scaling and other smaller fixes to get it working nicely.

A big update is also coming soon for the game introducing new battlefields, a rework of existing maps and various quality of life improvements.
